sighting: A large white light (ball shaped, much larger than airplane lights) shot down out of the sky towards the ground at an unbelievable speed. At first I thought it might be a shooting star, but it was so close and big and it didn't vaporize. It was so close, I pulled the car over, turned off the radio and pulled the window down to see if I could here the impact of it hitting the ground- I heard nothing. I witnessed this in a very heavily populated area of Georgia Ave. Wash. D.C., it lasted only for about 4-5 seconds. But I believe there are others who also saw it. 5 minutes later airplane lights were visible circling the general area inwhich I had seen the object.

I also witnessed a similiar object in Wash.D.C. back in October of 1990 on Halloween night. A large white ball of light shot across the sky and disappeared in the clouds moving at an incredible rate of speed. (the way in which the ball of light moved- it seemed to be alive).
