sighting: I was driving home from a meeting. It was nearing dusk, the sun had already set behind the mountains in the distance. As I was driving south between Boise and Meridian I noticed a fan of light in the southwest. My first thought was that I hadn't heard of any comets. Then it occurred to me that this was a helicopter with a search light shining through the haze of the inversion blanketing the area. But the light was too bright for a search light, and I could see no craft. My next thought was that of an airplane in a steep dive. But still there was no craft to be seen and the fan of light was getting brighter. Very bright. It move for a moment, horizontally towards the north then stopped. The light got even brighter. Still not blinking lights to indicate a helicopter of airplane. Then I notice this arc of white light above and around the tip of the light fan. The arc resembled that of a wave of air in front of an airplane traveling at a high rate of speed. Like a shock wave. The arc laste
