sighting: Two friends and I were out four-wheeling the most rural of backcountry backroads during a serious blizzard when we decided to pull off the road into a little horseshoe-shaped trail that led into a patch of woods. We backed in and turned off the engine. After sitting and chatting for approximately ten minutes we saw an orange flashing light off to our left on the road we'd just pulled in from. It was a revolving light such as one would find on a snow plow, but this struck us as odd inasmuch as the road was one that was so far off the main routes that it would not be cleared until the next day at the earliest, much less during the middle of a storm. We sat watching the light for a few more minutes, then decided it might be a snow plow that had gotten off the track and actually gotten itself stuck. I started the motor, pulled back out into the road, and slowly moved in the direction of the light. The light was stationary at a 90 degree bend in the road, no more than 30 feet from us, but as we approached, the light began to back off. Just as we got to the point where we first saw it, it disappeared. All that was left was the remnants of what appeared to be a vapor trail leading into the sky over an open field on our right. We continued along the road. We backtracked. There were no tire tracks anywhere; no indication that anyone but us had been on the road. Even with the falling snow, no land vehicle could have moved that quickly so as to leave no tracks in the wake of our advance. Although we saw no UFO per se, something was out there on that country road with us-something that disappeared into the night sky without a trace. No one has offered us any credible explanation of what it might have been.
