location: New Lenox Illinois USA

date: 11/30/97

time: 6:32 P.M.

sighting: I am a pilot, 27 yrs old. Driving
west on I-80 in New Lenox Illinois my
girlfriend and I saw a bright red fireball
for thirty seconds. It lit up the sky and
other traffic slowed down. It descended at
less than 200mph straight down (from our
perspective) over 45 others reportrd the
same object. The FAA pressured me to claim
it was a meteor. A ground search and areial
search were investigated. No debris was
found (object did not crash) Being
investigated currently by CUFOS, Center for
UFO studies, mufon, and myself. Extensively
witnessed. I've conducted interviews with
many credible witnesses and triangulated
dynamics of flight on a map. MULTIPLE
WITNESSES, MULTIPLE POSITIONS. Covered by
ABC, CBS, FOX, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago
Tribune, WLS talk-radio. ANy one with
information about this incident only, please
call TIM at 708-633-7716. Also, any red
fireball reports would be interesting to me.
As a pilot, I've never seen anything that flies
like this. Silent, generating a lot of heat,
too slow to be a meteor, people described it
hovering above trees. There are so many
credible witnesses to this one. The FAA said
nothing showed up on radar that night. Police
received three calls to report what people
described as a crashing aircraft. That's what I
thought it was. Interestingly there were multiple
reports of similiar incidents all over the midwest
the sunday after thanksgiving 1997. I am
investigating this heavily and would like to
complete a book on this sighting and others like it.
