Subject: giant flaming meteorite
Date: Sat, 27 Dec 1997 22:29:47
No-one believes that on a tuesday
night in august 1997 while driving
less than hour north of brisbane,
I saw a flaming object( as large
in appearance in the sky as the
moon) falling not very quickly
as it moved from a ten o'clock
position to my left at about a
45 degree inclination, to a two
o'clock position at about 20
degrees from the ground and out
of sight behind a pine forest
beside the road, in about 20
seconds.
The object appeared to be very
close, within a few kilometeres,
for the flames were very clear
and threw flares as the red
hot ball was spinning. It looked
as though the huge object would
have hit the ground intact before
reaching the ocean a few kilometres
in the direction it seemed to be
travelling. I was sure that there
would be extensive news coverage of
such a spectacular ball of flames
crashing to Earth but have heard
nothing of the event.
What did I see? Is this sort of
thing unusual? Has anyone found this
meteorite or whatever it was?Am I the
only witness?
