sighting: This sighting took place while traveling North on Interstate 55 about 7 miles south of the Hwy 63
exit in southern Mississippi County, Arkansas. (20 miles north of Memphis, TN) My 9 year old son and I were going
to visit my father, which lives near Hardy, Arkansas. As we were driving down the interstate, I happened to see
lights in the sky, just to the northeast of our car, and they were about a mile away, and about 500 ft. high or
so. It looked like a jet aircraft that had just taken off from an airport, so I shuned it off as that, not thinking
that there wern't any ariports near the area. My son and I were having a good conversation about the deer hunting
we were going to do while visiting my dad. Just as I looked over to listen to him, (approx 30 seconds after I noticed
the lights), I noticed his eyes got very large and he asked "what the heck is that" in a scared voice.
While I was looking at his eyes I noticed that his face got brighter, like a light had lit up in front of the car.
So I immediatly turned to look to the sky and just as I turned to see what he was talking about, I saw a very bright
light streak off to the west and was gone in less than 2 seconds. I turned back to my son and we pondered the question
of what we had seen for the remainder of the trip. That was the strangest thing I had ever seen and can't explain
just what it was. I would like to know if anyone else saw this. There were several trucks on the Interstate at
the time. I wish I would have had a CB radio to see if any of the truckers had seen the same thing.
