One night I decided to take a night drive past White Sands Missle Range. The night sky was clear and full of stars. I turned around at the base and headed back toward Alamagordo, passing White Sands park on the left of me. As I neared Alamagordo, I could see the lights of the city to the right and Holloman Air Force base on the left. Suddenly, I saw what looked exactly like a white airplane light moving at a high rate of speed toward the ground over the base. It moved like a falling star but had no streak or fiery appearance. My first thought was that a fighter jet was about to crash. But when the light touched the ground it just disappeared. No explosion, Nothing. Since the object appeared over Holloman, I concluded it must be some variety of missle or experimental jet. But I wonder how any object could shoot from the sky to the ground in only a half second and not crash and explode.I can¹t imagine anything that could safely land at the speed I saw this object fall. |
