Subject: ufo sighting in 1945

In 1945 my father was stationed at Luke Field in
Phoenix, AZ. Some time before Roosevelt's death (April?)
he and many other soldiers observed a bright orb in the sky
that was very large. It was broad daylight and the sky was
very clear.
The orb was visible for a long period of time but
did not move much if at all. This would lead one to
believe that it might have been Venus, however , even
as large as Venus can seem in the sky, this was larger.
After sending P 40's and P 38's to find it, the
military decided it was Venus.
