It was submitted by () on Saturday, February 7, 1998 at 03:51:43 location: Sanford, North Carolina date: August l972 time: Just after sunset sighting: A friend who lives closeby called me on the phone and excitedly ask me to grab my binoculars and run out to the front yard and see what that thing is flying in the sky with 2 headlights. By the time I got out there all I could see was a very bright-looking star just about directly overhead. It appeared to be as high as any of the stars but very bright. I put my binoculars on it and to my amazement the one bright light was really 2, just like my friend said. The two lights appeared to be holes in the bottom of a large circular object which an outline I could barely make out with smaller and less brilliant lights surrounding the edge. The large lights looked like white yellowish gases inside, similar to looking into a white-hot furnice door. It stayed view for about 5 minutes before going out of sight straight up. A couple of weeks later I saw the very same thing on the front of a UFO magazine at a local news stand. I was buying a paper and in a hurry and didn't get the magazine. I would certainly like to have that magazine. I am a pilot and own 2 airplanes with about 5000 hours flying time. My address is johnmac@alltel.net ---
